Paul Konerko’s #14 Retirement May25

Paul Konerko’s #14 Retirement

After I finished a 10 mile race at the 50 yard line of Soldier Field, I figured what better way to spend my afternoon than watching Paul Konerko have his number retired? Paul Konerko has always been my favorite Sox player. It’s just so easy to root for him. Even opposing fans and teams have always had the utmost respect for him as a player and competitor. It was easy to hate AJ, but Paul always let his work speak for itself. For my birthday my mom got us tickets to the second (and yes Cubs fans, probably only) sell out of the season. Despite my achy knees and my short nap, I was VERY excited to see what the Sox had planned for the game...

The First Place White Sox at the All Star Break

So here we are at the All Star Break and the White Sox have pretty much shown us and every one else that we know nothing about baseball. Predicted to be a 3rd place team at best, the White Sox have a 3 game lead in the division (3 1/2 over Detroit) and look to be in good shape...

White Sox Acquire Kevin Youkilis from Red Sox

After heavy trade rumors the last week or so, the White Sox pulled the trigger on Sunday, acquiring Kevin Youkilis from the Boston Red Sox. This is an interesting move from a team that all year seemed to be straddling the line between rebuilding and contending in one of the weakest...

[This is the fourth in a running sequence featuring one of my favorite street foods: The Chicago Style Hot Dog. A snappy sandwich which can be considered a 400 calorie snack or the cornerstone of a typical Chicago lunch from 1983: two hot dogs, a basket of fries and a Coke. Check out...

27 Up, 27 Down Apr23

27 Up, 27 Down

Saturday was supposed to be an uneventful day. After sleeping in, I was going to play some Zelda, read some Game of Thrones, or watch last Wednesday’s Modern Family. As I was deciding what to do, I turned on the Sox game on Fox, checked my e-mails, and ate lunch. After two innings, the box score flashed on the screen: the Sox hadn’t given up a hit. Now it is totally unreasonable to think about a no-hitter after just two innings, but every time I watch a baseball game, I’m thinking about the possibility.  I decided that I was going to watch until Seattle got a hit and then I’d go about the rest of my day. But then it...
